Well, to some people I know, this is pretty damn close to porn... it's just so pretty! The iPhone comes out June 29th... are you counting the days? The Rate Plans were just released today (http://www.apple.com/iphone/easysetup/rateplans.html) - if you are already an At&T / Cingular customer it's not too much additional over your voice plan. So, are you guys as excited as matt is?

This is totally geek porn. :)
Being a minor geek myself, I'll put my two cents in here. I think it's a teensy-weensy bit overrated. Touch interface phones have been around before, with most of the same features... Granted, Apple has probably done this slightly better than anyone else up to this point. They do have a knack for minimalist beauty in design, and instinctively ergonomic user interfaces.

I think its hot, but I bought a first generation ipod back in the day and that was a mistake... first gen of any product is bound to have way more issues. I'll wait for other people to be the guinea pigs and then reap the rewards of their suffering later. :)

I'm so torn on this 'must have status symbol'.
One the one hand, I can't stand not having an iPod for much longer. On the other, I really don't want to pay a monthly charge to use my iPod. Then again, I do need a new cell phone and am not under contract. But I can't imagine trying to cram my music, pics, and the movie 300 onto just 8GB max.
Oh what to do, woe is me. :P
Funny what a world I live in where debating on a $600 vain purchase is of any concern.

But it's not just a cell phone, it's a "smart phone." It does everything but cook you breakfast in the morning. ...that feature is rumored to be slated for the 2010 model. ;)

To be honest,I have no use for a cell phone.
Only had one for a short while, but then said fuck it!

To be honest, I have no use for a home phone. I am not at home all the time so why shouldn't people be able to get in touch with me where ever I am?

I hear that... We only have a home line because it's pretty much a prerequisite for DSL internet service. I could go without a cell phone if I had too, but I would seem so out of the loop. It's also nice to have as a back-up security measure. (...for all of those times when I'm out in the wilderness hiking by myself. ha!) But seriously, it's comforting to know that 911 is just a few seconds away no matter what.
